Eastern Ranges
Over the school holidays, the Eastern Ranges were defeated by the Sandringham Dragons in the Coates Development League Grand Final. Played in front of a huge crowd at IKON park, Whitefriars boys, Josh Tovey, Cooper Trembath and Jacob Vippond, put in a gallant effort. Congratulations on your season.
Christian Petracca
Another terrific season from Christian Petracca that was reflected in the Brownlow medal, finishing near the top of the leader board again with 26 votes, (his 4th top 10 finish in the past 4 years). Christian was also named Half Forward in the All Australian team, which is his 4th career selection. He was also the winner of Melbourne Football Club’s Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott Memorial Trophy.
Patrick Lipinski – AFL Grand Final
Congratulations to Patrick Lipinski who played for Collingwood in the AFL Grand Final against Brisbane. After missing the first half of the season due to injury, he was slotted back into the Magpies team and proved an important player in the lead up to the finals.
Josh Smillie – AFL Futures game
Congratulations to current student Josh Smillie who participated in the AFL Futures match, which was played at the MCG prior to the 2023 Toyota AFL Grand Final. The AFL Futures match provides next year’s draft prospects an opportunity to be part of a high-performance environment and showcase their talent on the big stage as they push for selection for the 2024 AFL Academy Boys program. Players were nominated by state talent programs, national selectors and AFL clubs, with all states and territories represented across the 46-player squad.
