OUR COMMUNITY

The Carmelite philosophy is reflected through all we do here at Whitefriars College. The community is formed as a result of a mutual respect and understanding of one another, whether you are a student, old collegian, parent or staff of the College.

There is a place for everyone at Whitefriars. Your son will belong to a diverse community where he will not need to conform to someone he is not, but rather develop into the gentle man he wishes to be. At Whitefriars we create a warm and nurturing environment for all boys to find, accept and respect themselves as individuals. There is an honesty that is expected of our boys, staff and parents. Sometimes situations are difficult but we do not dismiss them, we tackle them head on and support each other through the process. The boys may take many different paths but, at Whitefriars, our boys develop the skills to take the path that best suits them, and the strength to deal with any challenges along the way.

Democratic Principles

Whitefriars College adheres to and promotes the principles and practice of Australian democracy, including a commitment to:

  • elected government
  • the rule of law
  • equal rights for all before the law
  • freedom of religion
  • freedom of speech and association
  • the values of openness and tolerance

As such, Whitefriars adheres to the reporting requirements under Commonwealth and State funding agreements and makes available on request reports on all aspects of school performance to members of the College community.

Self-belief is such a powerful tool which people need in life to succeed. At Whitefriars I was given the opportunity by my peers to believe in myself and to have confidence that I can become anything I put my mind to, with the addition of hard work and patience.
