There are a range of leadership opportunities for students in the Middle and Senior Years at Whitefriars, either at College, House, activity or sporting level. We believe such roles enable students to gain valuable leadership experience, grow in confidence, and become responsible citizens and positive role models for others within Whitefriars and the wider community.
Student Representative Council (SRC)
The SRC concerns itself with a variety of matters related to College life including service, social justice, academia, student wellbeing, whole school events and the organisation of a variety of social co-curricular activities. They also are involved heavily in fundraising for the various charities that the College supports.
Opportunities for formal student leadership are also available in the areas of Liturgy, Debating, LOTE, Music, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Media, Drama, Wellbeing, Social Justice, Multi-Cultural, English, Maths, Science, Humanities, Commerce and Sport.
The College Captain, Vice Captains and House Captains form the SRC Executive. The SRC Executive meets with the Student Activities and Services (SAS) Coordinator to help develop the student voice within the College. This group is responsible for the day to day running of the SRC and the decisions on the Student Activities that run within the College. The SAS Coordinator oversees these student lead activities and initiatives.
All Year 11 students have the opportunity to participate in the Whitefriars Leadership Program. Students must complete this six week program to become eligible for Senior Student Leadership. College Captains and House Captains are elected by their peers and Activity and Sporting Captains are also determined through interview after this leadership program is completed.
There are also leadership opportunities within each House at the College. Each House has a Vice Captain as well as the House Representative Council (HRC) which is made up by one student per pastoral group as well as Senior House Leaders who are elected for student leadership each year. These students work on the development of House spirit and activities within each House.
