Did you know bees are responsible for pollinating 70% of crops worldwide and contribute to $3 billion agriculture industry? These highly intelligent species are essential and need protecting. The Sustainability and Environment Team celebrated World Bee Day on Monday 20 May. William Stapelfeldt (Year 8) and Mrs Maria Ciavarella were our guest Beekeepers who presented amazing bee facts, showed beekeeping equipment and explained the honey collection process. Students and teachers were able to sample different honey samples too. This presentation has inspired a group of students to research beekeeping and are proposing a College beehive club. Stay tuned!
