Over the course of 2017 our Intermediate VCAL students have taken part in a project known as the ‘Garden Collective’. In this project students have designed and built vegetables gardens, planted seasonal vegetables and finally harvested the produce which they delivered to the food bank at the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre in Footscray.
While tending the garden on a regular basis, students have learned about sustainability, food insecurity and social justice.
The opportunity for the boys to hand the produce directly to those who need it most was an incredibly powerful experience for them. We hope to continue this enjoyable and worthwhile program into future years.
Well done boys – we are proud of you.
