Steps to Sustainability Conference 2019

On Friday 29 March, Whitefriars College presented at the recent Steps to Sustainability Conference at Melbourne Zoo. With over 200 educators from Victoria, the conference enabled schools to share their sustainability and environment stories and resources. Thank you to Ms Katherine Smith and Mr Scott Firmin for co-presenting the Whitefriars Water Programs, which included a Water Bug Blitz activity and explaining the water themed curriculum and events at the College. The team was fortunate to met Arron Wood, the Deputy Melbourne Lord Mayor and environment advocate and win his signed book Billabong Boy. His inspiring presentation from a country boy to politician reminded the conference attendees that caring for the environment is not just about biodiversity. Its connection to economics, wellbeing, health and education is paramount.
