Dear Parents/Guardians, Families, Students, Staff and Friends of the College
On Wednesday 21 March, communities celebrated ‘Harmony Day’. The message of Harmony Day is ‘Everyone Belongs’. Harmony Day is a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home – from the traditional owners of this land to those who have come from many countries around the world.
Our Australian Story is diverse. We each make up the pages of the bigger Australia story we share today. Taking the time to celebrate our diversity is a significant way we can learn and understand.
Reflecting on the proclaimed Word of God, in the name of Jesus we confidently pray for our community, our world and us.
We pray for the continued good message of Harmony Day; that we may be blessed and filled with the Holy Spirit in working towards living in peace together, regardless of race.
We pray that our school, Whitefriars College, will continue to be known for its love of God and concern for one another. May we maintain our mission to be like Jesus with our love, support and friendship for all. Guide us, Lord to be more faithful, courageous and compassionate in our quest to fulfil our potential and live the Good News.
May those who have difficulty living in harmony find the true message of peace proclaimed by Jesus Christ, Our Lady of Mount Carmel and our Whitefriars House patrons – St. Teresa of Avila, Blessed Titus Brandsma, St Andrew Corsini, Edith Stein (St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross), St. Therese of Lisieux, Blessed Baptist of Mantua, Blessed John Soreth and St. Elizabeth of the Trinity.

Emilia starts a new role at Nazareth College Noble Park, from the beginning of Term 2. We wish Emilia and her family all the very best for the future.
Members of our community were informed earlier this week of the sad news that Will Hoole (Class of 2013) has passed away. Our deepest sympathy and prayers are extended to his parents, Clare and Glenn, his brothers Jack (Year 7 2018, Brandsma 2) and Chris (Class of 2006) and his sister, Elise. Our thoughts and prayers too are with all members of the Whitefriars community, past and present.
We also ask that you keep Michael Usatov Year 10 Corsini 1, Mark (Class of 2016) and their father Paul in your thoughts and prayers on the passing of their mother and wife, Jill.
May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Easter and the Holidays
Easter is a celebration of humanity, a time of strong emotions. With the resurrection of Christ, love has resurrected and once again given us hope. For Easter we wish you realisation of all your hopes and good beginnings, peace and kindness. If all our deeds would be pleasing to God, with each passing day we’ll become stronger and stronger.
God of hope, as we prepare for the joyful celebration of Easter,
we think of the communities in our country and around the world
who are working on projects that are promising them a brighter future.
We ask your blessing on their efforts to make a difference.
May the holiday period and Easter bring you hope and faith in goodness and human nature.
Happy Easter to all.
Mr Anthony Kirley
