Dear Parents/Guardians, Families, Students and Staff

Welcome to Term Four. I hope everyone had a restful and safe break. It already seems so long ago! The term has definitely started with an abundance of activity and energy and Year 12 classes have now completed. Their last day is today, Friday 19 October, with a closing Year 12 assembly and brunch. Farewell House Assemblies were conducted on Wednesday and Thursday. The Valete Mass and Valedictory Dinner are being held on Thursday 25 October. The prayers and thoughts of the whole Whitefriars community are with our young men as their VCE exams being on Wednesday 31 October.

Prayers – All Saints Day (Nov 1) And All Souls Day (Nov 2)

Let us pray for all God’s children; that everyone will learn to share what God has given us to live as brothers and sisters in peace.
Let us pray for our College staff and all those who work in the education of the young; that God will continue to fill them with strength and peace.
Let us pray for our friends and relatives who have died. May God lead them to the joy of heaven and send us his comfort and peace.
Let us pray that God will open our eyes and hearts to serving Jesus in each other.
May our care for one another be a sign of the oneness we share in Christ with all the saints.
Let us bring together our prayers: those we have spoken and those in the quiet of our hearts.

Acting Chair of the Board
Mr Peter Duffy (Board Chair) has been unwell over the past few weeks. We have conveyed our best wishes to Peter and will keep him in our thoughts and prayers.

Staff News
After eleven years of service and significant contribution to the College, Mrs Anna Taranto (Director of Psychological Services) spent her last day at the College on 12 October as she has obtained employment at another school. We have truly appreciated Anna’s work, friendship and dedication and we wish Anna and her family all the very best for the future.

World Teachers Day
Internationally, World Teachers Day is celebrated on the first Friday in October. However as this is usually during Australian school holidays, Australia celebrates the day on the last Friday in October of each year. Therefore, this year, World Teachers Day will be acknowledged at Whitefriars on Friday 26 October. Celebrated in over 100 countries World Teachers’ Day acknowledges the efforts of teachers. It is a day on which students, parents and community members can also show their appreciation for the contributions that teachers have made in the classroom and to their community.
