Overdue library book? Mr Jackson learns it’s never too late.
1991 was the year I completed Year 12 as a student at Whitefriars, with Australian History being one of my subjects. At that time, I was living at a friend’s residence not far from the College.
In a recent cleaning of his house – as well as the storage area beneath the floor – a box of my old belongings was unearthed and this book was revealed in remarkably fine condition. It will soon appear upon the library shelves to be borrowed.
I did not incur the wrath of the library staff when it was returned, overdue, by some thirty one years. On the contrary, the staff were elated. They are now calculating the lateness fine with all added costs, adjustments, indexations plus interest.
