The world really is a small place! People of all ages share the same wishes for opportunity, inclusiveness, hope, freedom and peace:
The Christian Faith that informs our existence is much more than teaching a particular creed or implementing a set of rituals. It is a commitment to teaching about living life to the full – with Knowledge, with Wisdom, with Compassion, with Love, with Justice, with Freedom and with Faith in the future.
Together we make the difference in each other’s lives.
Together we relate the stories that bind us all,
We strive for a better world,
dignity of all,
wanting to be reconciled,
stand together as one.
Church Feast Days
The Transfiguration of the Lord – August 6
‘Before the eyes of his disciples, Jesus didn’t glow, he “shone like the sun”. He was filled to overflowing with the Light; so lit up that even others could see it. As he spoke, a cloud came and covered them with shadow; and when they went into the cloud the disciples were afraid. And a voice came from the cloud saying, ‘This is my Son, the Chosen One. Listen to him.’ (Lk 9: 34-35)
St Mary of the Cross – August 8
God of the pilgrim
St Mary MacKillop trusted your guidance in her journey of life
and deepened her confidence in your will.
May we renew our trust in your Providence to lead us in hope.
May we relish the sacred in the ordinariness of our lives.
May we grow in the fullness of your love
and the depth of your mystery.
A New Beginning
Belatedly, I say ‘welcome back to Term 3’ to you all. I trust that the holidays were relaxing times for you and that the usual routines have started positively for each person. Semester Two is well under way and our Whitefriars young men are continually encouraged to take all the opportunities presented to them, and, to create opportunities for their own learning too! Engaging, challenging and enjoyable work begins in our learning spaces, as we strive to help the learner:
Science and Technology Centre – Blessing and Official Opening
Whitefriars College celebrated a very proud and significant occasion on Wednesday 1 August, with the Blessing and Official Opening of the Science and Technology Centre. The celebrant for the Blessing Liturgy was Fr Paul Cahill O. Carm. (Provincial Prior) and Fr Paul also had the honour of unveiling the plaque and declaring the new centre ‘open’. A full report of the Blessing and Opening will appear in the next edition of In Fide, acknowledging the participation and commitment of many to this project and to those who played important roles at the Blessing and Opening. Classes have been held in the new Centre since June, to the delight, excitement and appreciation of the boys and the staff.
