Congratulations to Year 12 VCE Music Performance student Evan O’Connor, who was awarded first prize in the VCE/IB Section of the 49th Annual Leslie Barklamb Scholarship on Sunday August 28. All participants were required to perform two pieces in front of an audience and specialist assessment panel. This flute scholarship dates back to 1973, when the founder of the Victorian Flute Guild, Leslie Barklamb, instituted the annual scholarship under his name. It has evolved to become one of Victoria’s most prestigious instrumental scholarships, and has contributed to the success of many Australian pre-eminent flautists. Evan presented a spectacular performance, with positive feedback for emotive and expressive musicality which has been a great preparation for his completion for his VCE Music studies. Well done Evan!
