Mrs Evelina Thornton’s passing

It is with deep sadness that I inform you of the recent death of Mrs Evelina Thornton following a long battle with cancer. Evelina was a dedicated and passionate teacher who supported Whitefriars students in the areas of Italian, English and Religious Education for the past 10 years. Evelina’s recent passing was both sad and surprising, given the great health gains she had made in the past 12 months. She was very much hoping to return to her students, colleagues and ‘second home’ here at Whitefriars next year.

Evelina was a thoughtful and caring member of staff who was always there with a supportive heart and a listening ear for all members of our College community. On behalf of our community I wish to offer my deepest sympathies to Evelina’s husband Ian and family, and know that she will always be sadly missed, but always remembered at Whitefriars

A Requiem Mass for Evelina will be held next Tuesday 29th June @ 11.00 am at St Peters Anglican Church, East Melbourne – and all are warmly invited to attend.

In dealing with death, we need to remember and cherish the value and dignity of life. Please pray for Evelina, that she will be at peace with God, and that her family, colleagues and many friends will be comforted and strengthened by the love of Jesus and their community.

Thank you for your prayers and continued support.

Mark Murphy, Principal

Eternal rest grant to Evelina O Lord,

and may perpetual light shine upon her.

May her soul and the souls of the faithful departed

through the mercy of God rest in peace.

Amen.

“There are many rooms in my Father’s house, and I am going to prepare a place for you. I would not tell you this if it were not so.” (John 14:2)
