Last Friday, Lisieux House celebrated our Feast Day with a focus on raising money for our House charity, FightMND. Founded in 2014, FightMND was established with the purpose of finding effective treatment and ultimately a cure for Motor neurone disease. The horrible and debilitating disease gradually takes away the patient’s use of their arms and legs, their ability to eat and swallow, their speech and their ability to breathe… all in an average timeframe of just 27 months.
In the lead up to the Feast Day, students were given the opportunity to purchase the Freeze MND beanies. As a result, Lisieux House raised $1,700 from the sale of the beanies with more than 80 boys wearing them as part of the Feast Day celebrations.
Our House Mass was led by Father Paul Sireh with the help of some students, where we gained a deeper understanding into our House Patron, St Thérèse of Lisieux, and the life she lived. This was followed by a BBQ lunch.
The willingness of students and teachers to get involved with this important cause helps to unite and strengthen our Lisieux community. Thank you to everyone who helped out with the day and for all those who supported our House Charity, Fight MND. Your generosity and participation is greatly appreciated.=
