At the beginning of term, we welcomed Federico Carchedi to Whitefriars College as an Italian Language assistant from Italy. Federico is a teacher from Prato in Tuscany. We were very fortunate to be given an assistant as part of the COASIT program. Federico will be with us until December. I take this opportunity to sincerely thank Joe and Maria Zeffiro for hosting Federico in their home for the first 4 weeks of Term.
A Language Assistant as a native speaker is considered a resource person who will enrich students’ learning by adding a contemporary cultural dimension to a school’s languages program. They offer unique opportunities for both students and teachers to increase their fluency in the target language.
Federico assists in all the Italian year levels and is warmly welcomed by the students when he enters the classroom. He is currently assisting the Year 9 -12 students as they prepare for the Dante Alighieri Poetry Competition which will take place next week.
Feel free to say Ciao or Buongiorno when you see him.
