Earlier this week the entire staff of Whitefriars gathered at the National Carmelite Centre in Middle Park. We did so to listen further to the story of our Carmelite origins from the banks of Mt Carmel on the Gaza Strip in Israel to Gawler in South Australia and then on to our more local parishes of Port Melbourne and Middle Park. Whitefriars is part of that entire story.
Fr Michael Brundell and Fr David Hoffman spoke with great eloquence about the Order and how we can all associate with it.
I mention the above gathering because it is important for us to understand our own story. Just as it is important for a family never to lose track of its history and stories, so too it is for a school. In fact, Whitefriars is blessed to be a Catholic College that has one of the longest standing traditions in the Church as the Carmelites have now been a global entity for over 800 years.
