Winter is a particularly hard time when you don’t have a roof over your head, so a cup of hot soup and enjoying a meal in a warm dry place is much appreciated. The Friars Foodies helped out again at the Mitcham Community Meal at the All Saints Anglican Church on Sunday 23 July, providing the nourishing soup and some tasty sweets to take away after the main meal. We had helpers from Yr 10 Food Technology (Tynan Carr, Cameron Ellis, Noah Foley, Cameron Miller and Wattles Suen) make up the brownies and muffins during one of their lunchtimes at school and those goodies went down well with the guests at the meal. On the evening itself, several staff members came to help serve the soup and chat to the guests. Thanks to Mark Murphy and Melinda Coulson!
If any family groups or friends think they might like to get a small group together to volunteer occasionally on a Sunday evening to help the homeless, please follow the link to see what is involved, or contact Mrs Ciavarella in Food Tech at Whitefriars for more detail.
