Cross country relays at Jells Park

On 21 May, many of our very committed cross country boys turned up at Jells Park for the Victorian All-Schools Relays. It was a fantastic day out for all the boys, with many of them setting new personal bests in their distances in the season-opener! As with all sporting competitions at Whitefriars, the encouragement and support from all members was incredible and definitely helped with the great results on the day. This season, and term particularly, will be focused on building a strong team environment, with an emphasis on team spirit and participation. Once we have a built up the team, we will focus more on getting the boys stronger, faster and fitter, ready for the ACC Cross Country Champs at Bundoora Park in late Term 3, where we know that all boys will give it their best crack and leave nothing out on the course.

Across the U14’s and U16’s, we had 3 teams complete a 4x3km relay, and in the seniors (U18s and U20s) we had 2.5 teams complete a 4x4km relay. Many thanks also to Mr Kellar and Mr Loprevite for coming down and supporting the boys, as well as many parents who were there cheering on.

It’s going to be a great cross-country season, and I can’t wait to see more boys come down to training and participate in these races!
