Corsini House have been working with Doncare as our House Charity Partner for a number of years and we are always looking for different ways to support them. One way is to offer financial support through our Feast Day donations, but just as important, we look to offer ‘hands
on’ practical support in the form of ’Faith in Action’.
The Kiwanis Club of Manningham have been working with Doncare to provide emergency personal packs to women forced to leave their family home because of domestic violence. Our new partnership with the Kiwanis Club sees us provide resources for these packs and then have our Year 7 Corsini House students put them together.
Last term we asked parents to support this worthy cause. Each student in a Pastoral Care was asked to bring one item for the packs. Students in C1 were asked to bring in a shower cap, students in C2 were asked to bring in a toothbrush, students in C3 were asked to bring in a packet of tissues, students in C4 were asked to bring in a face washer, students in C5 were asked to bring in a roll-on deodorant, students in C6 were asked to bring in a comb and students in C7 were asked to bring in feminine hygiene pads.
On Friday 20 July, during a Year 7 Corsini Religious Education lesson, Janet from the Kiwanis Club supervised the Year 7 group putting together the emergency packs for Doncare. Its was a great success and we managed to make 40 packs in the one lesson!
A big thank you to the parents, students and staff of Corsini House to make this initiative happen and we hope to replicate this success in Term 4.
