Carmel Impact : English teacher volunteers wanted for Timor-Leste

The Carmelite Brothers in Timor-Leste have identified a need for English language training for the Carmelite students there.

English Teaching

The volunteer will run regular English language classes with the Carmelite students, fitting around their other study commitments. A schedule of classes, including small group and individual sessions, will be determined by the volunteer and the Carmelite Brothers.

The Carmelites’ Community is situated in a rural area called Hera, which is on the north coast and approximately 45 minutes east of the capital Dili.

Volunteer Skills

A volunteer in this position needs to have some experience in teaching English as a foreign language or in the education sector generally.

This position is for a duration of 6 months initially, with the possibility of extending.

The Carmelites can provide modest accommodation at the Community in Hera, as well as all meals which are eaten together in a shared dining room. The volunteer will need to cover costs associated with travelling to and from Timor-Leste, visa arrangements, travel insurance, and other living costs while in-country.
