On Friday 3 May, Avila celebrated the feast day of our patron Saint, Teresa. As a part of the celebrations, we collected donations for our house charity, the Pat Cronin Foundation. Pat was a former Avila boy, so the organisation is very close to our hearts.
During our Wellbeing session, we gathered in the Chapel for a celebration mass and then enjoyed a sausage sizzle lunch. During this time, the boy’s watched a video on the events after Pat’s tragic passing (inc. news shorts from the day after, during the court case and the start of the Foundation) – crystallising the importance in us continuing to #BeWise.
The highlight of the day, was presenting Pat’s mother Robyn with an Avila t-shirt (signed by everyone in the house) and a cheque for $1,000. Robyn thanked the boys for their donations and spoke with warmth about Pat’s time at Whitefriars. Her final request was that we take forth the Foundation’s message and ‘End the Coward Punch’.
Well done to the boys in Avila.
