ACC Intermediate Chess Champions 2019

On Wednesday 9 October, the chess team competed in the ACC Junior and Intermediate Chess tournament at Parade College.  Both teams, under the tutelage of Rhonda Powling, performed exceptionally well against very tough opposition. Of particular note was the Intermediate Chess team which finish on top of their division and hence crowned ACC Intermediate Chess Champions for 2019. This is an outstanding achievement for the Chess Team beating their more highly fancied opposition. The Junior Chess team also performed above expectations with a very creditable third place in division 1.

I would like to acknowledge the work of Rhonda Powling who has done a fantastic job in developing the chess program at the college to deliver its first ACC Intermediate Chess title (to go along with our first ACC Open title in 2015).
