Container is Timor bound

Timor5A big thank you to John Sampson from Eagle Towing and Salvage based in Ringwood. He donated his time and his vehicle to ‘help the College out of a pickle’.

When I rang him on Tuesday 28 July with a bit of an emergency, as our shipping container needed to be moved a few metres forward so that the transport company can access and lift the container ….His response was immediate and greatly appreciated.

The container has now left for Timor. Thanks must go to the many Staff, Students, Parents, Local Primary Schools and Sporting Clubs, Businesses and Old Collegians for supporting this initiative in so many ways … donating, painting, packing and talking about the program have helped to further the cause.

The container was packed (100% full) with clothing, medical supplies, educational resources, sporting goods, household and classroom furniture and many more items. All will go to struggling communities in Timor-Leste once the container makes the month long journey via Singapore. There is much anticipation and excitement in Timor regarding this venture and I know that the recipients in these communities will be eternally grateful to Whitefriars College.
