2021 English Effective Speaking Competition Winners

On Friday 25 February the winners of the 2021 English Effective Speaking Competition gathered in the library space to celebrate their success along with Ms Spurritt and Mr Wight. Students received a certificate of achievement.

Given the turbulence of last year and the required changes to learning through the Home Learning Program, these students are to be commended for their dedication and resilience to their English classes, and their ability to produce wonderful speeches and excellent videos that allowed them to speak eloquently on their topics:

Year 7 – ‘Heroes in Film’

Year 8 – ‘The Balloon Debate’

Year 9 – ‘Your Local Hero’

Year 10 – ‘Slam Poetry’

With our sincere thanks to:

  • Our amazing Year 7-10 English teachers for all of their work with these students, the seen and unseen;
  • Our incredible judges: Mr Mark Murphy, Mr Russell Melenhorst, Mr Andrew Wight, Mr Mick Lafferty, Mr Chris Zerella, Ms Libby Oxley, Ms Catherine Spurritt, Mr James Smith, Mr Sean O’Donaghue, Mr Greg Stewart, Mr Jeremy Freeman, and Ms Anne-Maree Wight for their willingness to view, judge and write up insightful comments on the performances.

Thank you to every student in Year 7 to 10 for your participation in this incredible competition!
