2019 House Swimming Carnival

To start the term, Whitefriars held its annual House Swimming Carnival at Aqualink Nunawading. The day started with the Senior Carnival and by 9.15am events were in full swing. Aiden Gleeson (Year 10, Corsini) won the coveted Noel Kierce Fastest Friar Trophy and while Corsini brought an incredible ‘most improved’ show, it was Edith Stein that took the majority of first place ribbons.

In the afternoon, the Junior Carnival began and it was great to see the comradery and sportsmanship amongst the students, both on the sidelines and in the pool. Over the course of the afternoon, many students participated in a variety of events, but there was one standout performer – Evan Chee (Year 9, Soreth). Evan was a dominant force in the water, and as one of the best swimmers in Australia, took out the Junior Fastest Friar trophy with ease. Edith Stein won the Junior Cup over Soreth.

There was plenty of house spirit and all students should be commended for this. The Carnival couldn’t have been possible without the help of all of the staff and student leaders who assisted in the setup, marshalling and recording of events and it was great to see the parents who came to support the boys. The day was full of spirit, competitiveness and fun which everyone truly enjoyed.

Overall results and trophies will be presented at the next student assembly. See the photos here
